Upper Siang reviews monsoon preparedness, launches District Disaster Management Plan

Yingkiong, Apr 29: In view of the approaching monsoon season, the Upper Siang District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) convened a meeting at the DC Office’s conference hall here on Wednesday to review the monsoon preparedness levels and outline necessary measures to be undertaken by all stakeholders.

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DDMA, Talo Jerang, reviewed the roles and responsibilities of all concerned departments and agencies. He emphasized the need for heightened alertness and proactive coordination in light of the forthcoming monsoon. Stressing on preparedness, he directed all stakeholders to remain vigilant and ensure timely response mechanisms to effectively mitigate any disaster-related situations.

On the occasion, the DC also formally launched the District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) for Upper Siang, aimed at strengthening the district’s disaster preparedness and response framework.

Earlier, in her welcome address, District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Anie Yangfo highlighted the objectives of the meeting and underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders. She informed that the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) helpline number 1077 is active and operational round the clock (24x7) to assist the public during emergencies. (DIPRO)
