ITANAGAR, May 2: In a joint operation, the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police apprehended three insurgents belonging to the Naga militant group, NSCN-K (Nikki Sumi), in Wancho Colony area of Khonsa, Tirap district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the security forces launched the operation and successfully apprehended the cadres following swift and coordinated action.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Wingan Agan (33), Jhonny Riba (21), and Rajapeyu Khechan Khetey (30), all reportedly associated with the outfit.
During the operation, security forces recovered two 7.65 mm pistols with magazines, nine rounds of live ammunition, three mobile phones, three SIM cards, three GPRN-related documents, and suspected brown sugar valued at approximately Rs 500.
The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the Arunachal Pradesh Police in Khonsa for further investigation.
Officials stated that the successful operation underscores the operational efficiency and coordination between security forces, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region.
