Yania Hina passes away; tributes pour in

Daporijo, May 2: Yania Hina, a dedicated teacher and respected community member of Upper Subansiri district, passed away on May 1 at TRIHMS, Naharlagun following a prolonged illness. She was 58 and is survived by three sons, three daughters, and two granddaughters.

Born to Gioding Maying and Teke Maying on February 16, 1968, Late Hina served as a Primary Teacher (PRT) since 1987, beginning her career at Government Bazar School, Daporijo, and most recently serving at Govt IV School, Ruji. Over a career spanning nearly four decades, she earned recognition for her commitment to education and her role in shaping the lives of numerous students. Prior to joining the Education Department, she also served as a lower division clerk in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Upper Subansiri district.

Apart from her professional contributions, she was actively involved in promoting indigenous culture and faith. She actively supported the celebration of Si-Donyi Hilo alongside her late husband Tachu Hina, who had served as secretary in 1999 and chairman in 2000.

Her mortal remains were laid to rest at her residence in Daporijo on Saturday. Family members, relatives, and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects.

The Alumni Association of Govt Higher Secondary School, Daporijo, has expressed deep sorrow over her demise and extended condolences to the bereaved family. Members of the Donyi Polo prayer team also paid floral tributes.
