NCC cadets explore cultural heritage under VVP

Dumporijo, May 4: In a meaningful initiative under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP), NCC cadets visited Belo village under Dumporijo circle in Upper Subansiri district, gaining first-hand exposure to indigenous traditions and rural life.

Belo village, predominantly inhabited by the Galo tribe, offered the cadets a rich cultural experience rooted in long-preserved customs and community values. Nestled amidst lush paddy fields, the village reflects a deep cultural heritage influenced by traditions of the Yomcha circle in West Siang district.

The visit aimed to foster interaction between cadets and local residents, enabling them to understand the social fabric, customs, and traditional systems of the Galo community. During the interaction, cadets were introduced to traditional social roles and titles such as Ronya, Riba, Tatu, and Yinyo, which signify respect and identity within the community.

Cadets actively engaged with villagers, gaining insights into traditional practices, lifestyle patterns, and cultural values passed down through generations. The serene setting and simplicity of village life provided an ideal environment for experiential learning beyond the classroom.

The visit was led by the Commanding Officer of 1 APBN NCC, with active participation from ANO Mennu Haji and PI staff, ensuring smooth coordination and meaningful engagement throughout the programme.

The initiative highlighted the importance of cultural awareness and social responsibility among youth, while reinforcing the need to preserve indigenous identities in a rapidly modernising world. It also served as a bridge between structured NCC training and real-world learning experiences.

The visit concluded on a reflective note, leaving a lasting impression on the cadets and contributing towards shaping responsible citizens aligned with the vision of a developed India.
