Five-day MDP on Exports commences at IIFT, Kolkata; Trade & Commerce Dept sponsoring 20 Arunachal trainees

KOLKATA, May 4: A five-day training programme on Export Procedures & Documentations tailored for prospective entrepreneurs from Arunachal Pradesh was inaugurated at the IIFT Kolkata campus on Monday.

The Department of Trade and Commerce (GoAP) is sponsoring the 4th batch of 20 nominees to attend the five-day Management Development Programme on Exports at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Kolkata, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Commerce in collaboration with XCELL - Centre for Export Facilitation, IIFT Kolkata, the event aims to equip regional business leaders with the technical expertise required for international trade.

The inaugural ceremony, held at the academic building, featured a formal lamp lighting and welcome address by Sumana Das, Consultant at XCELL.

Tangli Mossang, Asstt Director Trade and Commerce (GoAP), delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the State's trade potential.

Dr K Rangarajan, Head of IIFT Kolkata and XCELL, provided a special address outlining the scope of the training and the strategic prospects for Arunachal Pradesh in the international market.

The intensive five-day schedule covers a wide array of critical trade topics, including export financing, global logistics cycles, and market identification. Participants will receive hands-on training in navigating tariff barriers, understanding India’s growing linkages with ASEAN countries, and mastering export packaging standards specifically for products from Arunachal Pradesh.

A key highlight of the programme is a study tour of the Kolkata Port scheduled for May 7, allowing entrepreneurs to observe maritime trade operations firsthand.

The training will conclude on May 8 with sessions on e-Commerce exports, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) advantages for MSMEs, and mandatory export inspection requirements, stated Sonyung Modi, Director Trade & Commerce (GoAP).
