SUMP: Three more U/Siang villages consent to PFR study

YINGKIONG, May 8: In continuation of the ongoing outreach for the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), pro-PFR members from Zido and Ngaming villages joined other villages of Upper Siang in extending their support to the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) activities.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today at the community hall, Zido, where a total of 46 members from Zido village and 67 members from Ngaming village consented to support the PFR activities.

In a separate MoU signing programme held at the community hall, Palling, 26 members from Palling village also signed the MoU in support of the PFR activities.

The MoU signing ceremony was done in presence of local MLA and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Alo Libang; Chief Engineer Hydropower K Perme; State nodal officer SUMP Atek Miyu; along with other government officers, prominent public leaders, Gaon Burahs, and pro-PFR members.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the GoAP by DC Upper Siang Talo Jerang, and by Eshi Siboh (Zido), Odang Gamno (Ngaming), and Genom Tekseng (Palling), representing their respective Project Affected Families (PAFs).

Addressing the gathering, Libang highlighted the government’s initiative behind the proposed PFR for SUMP and elaborated on its strategic significance. He emphasized the importance of informed participation and cooperation from the local populace.

The DC, in his address, elaborated on the objectives, potential benefits, and concerns related to the PFR activities. He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the process. (DIPRO)
