Itanagar, May 9: Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission (APSFC) Chairman Tarh Tarak on Saturday visited Tawang along with Commission Member Maji Choker to review the implementation of schemes under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the district.
The APSFC team is currently on a four-day tour of western Arunachal Pradesh covering Tawang, West Kameng, Bichom, and East Kameng districts to assess the implementation of NFSA schemes and related welfare programmes.
The review meeting in Tawang was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo and attended by officers from various line departments involved in implementing food security and nutrition schemes.
During the meeting, the Commission reviewed key welfare schemes including PM Poshan, Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), the Public Distribution System (PDS), and National Health Mission schemes for pregnant and lactating women.
Addressing the officers, Tarh Tarak appreciated the coordinated efforts of the district administration and departmental officials. He stated that both the Centre and the State Government have introduced several important schemes aimed at ensuring food security, nutrition, and healthy living conditions for the people.
He urged the implementing agencies to ensure proper execution of all schemes under the NFSA and stressed that public grievances related to food security should be addressed promptly and effectively.
Later, the Commission team inspected the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Tawang, along with several fair price shops and cooperative outlets. During the inspection, the team found that the FCI godown had adequate food stock to meet requirements during the upcoming monsoon season and that the storage facility was in good condition.
Among others present during the review meeting and inspections were Tawang CDPO Dondup Pema, Lumla CDPO Diris Diengdoh, DDSE Tawang Hridhar Phuntso, Medical Superintendent Dr Tenzin Kunga, SIFCS Sange Tsering Kee, and Food Safety officials Dorjee Phuntso and other departmental officers.
