CATC-05 concludes successfully at JNV Megdong

ITANAGAR, May 10: The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-05) organised by the National Cadet Corps under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters Tezpur concluded successfully on Sunday at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Megdong.

Conducted from May 1 to 10 by the 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC, the camp marked a significant milestone as the first NCC camp of its kind organised in the remote Megdong region, aimed at ensuring inclusive access to quality NCC training for cadets from far-flung areas.

During the 10-day camp, cadets underwent intensive training sessions covering physical training, yoga, zumba, aerobics, drill, weapon training, map reading, field craft, battle craft, judging distance, camouflage techniques, CPR, disaster management awareness, and drug abuse awareness. Cadets also participated in 25-metre shooting and firing practice to enhance practical field skills and confidence.

The camp featured several motivational and awareness lectures by distinguished resource persons. Lieutenant Siddhant Gaikwad of 19 JAT delivered a lecture on Operation Sindoor, while Nyajar Gusar, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Health Department, conducted a session on health and hygiene. ADC Kodak also interacted with cadets on career counselling and future opportunities.

As part of experiential learning, cadets visited Vibrant Villages including Megdong, Meche Marde, and Belo, where they engaged with local communities and explored the region’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. A cleanliness drive was also conducted within the school premises to promote civic responsibility and environmental awareness.

Adventure and team-building activities such as trekking expeditions and crew cooking further strengthened teamwork, endurance, and self-reliance among cadets. The camp also provided a platform for cultural and personality development through group dances, singing competitions, skits, dramas, and public speaking events.

Officials stated that organising the camp in a remote location enabled wider participation by reducing long-distance travel and associated costs for cadets from distant areas.

The successful conduct of CATC-05 reaffirmed the NCC’s commitment to inclusive youth development and extending training opportunities to every corner of the region while nurturing disciplined and responsible citizens dedicated to nation-building.
