KHONSA, May 11: In an encouraging step towards supporting tuberculosis patients under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), two ex-students of RKSM, Khonsa — Sonali Debroy and Er Roikim Taikam — became Nikshay Mitras today by adopting 11 TB patients.
As part of the initiative, food baskets were distributed to the adopted patients at the General Hospital, Khonsa in presence of Dr B Ratan, District Medical Officer (DMO) Tirap; Dr Tumli Basar, Medical Superintendent GHK; Dr J Thingnok, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO); and Dr S Sumpa, Nodal Officer DDR-TBC.
Speaking on the occasion, the DMO advised the patients to maintain proper hygiene, and consume nutritious and healthy food for speedy recovery and better health outcomes. He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the two Nikshay Mitras for their selfless service and humanitarian contribution towards the needy people of Tirap and Longding districts.
On behalf of the NTEP and the Health Department as a whole, the DMO conveyed sincere gratitude to Debroy and Taikam for extending support and encouragement to TB patients. (DIPRO)
