ITANAGAR, May 12: A two-day capacity building programme was conducted jointly by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Office of Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd (APSCAB) at Naharlagun on May 11-12.
The programme, meant for officers and staff of APSCAB and 34 LAMPS in Arunachal Pradesh, was aimed at strengthening their capabilities on understanding and analyzing the financial statements of the institutions.
The programme on Tuesday was inaugurated by Pankaj Shah, Chairman Cooperation & NPO Committee of ICAI, in presence of S V Ranga Rao, GM/OIC NABARD, Jummar Bam, RCS (GoAP) and Bittu Kri, MD APSCAB.
The programme was attended by over 60 participants each on both days.
Shah explained the activities and initiatives of the ICAI. He appreciated the role being played by the cooperatives in India in developing rural areas and servicing rural clientele. He indicated that the cooperative institutions in the State had a great role to play in purveying credit for agriculture and rural development, and assured that ICAI will always be available for providing any knowledge-based support to the cooperatives in the State.
Ranga Rao explained the objectives of the programme and advised the APSCAB and LAMPS to make full use of the programme for building their capabilities on accounting and financial statements and for properly implementing the computerization programme.
Kri appreciated the initiative taken by NABARD and ICAI in supporting the capacity building interventions for APSCAB and LAMPS.
Bam pointed out the important role that the cooperative institutions in the State have to play towards achieving the goals under Sahkar se Samriddhi and Viksit Bharat initiatives.
