Bomdila, May 13: A coordination meeting in connection with the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP)-II was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises here on Tuesday, with participation of concerned heads of departments of West Kameng district, the Commandant of SSB Kalaktang, ADCs, and Zilla Parishad Members of Dirang and Kalaktang.
The meeting was convened to sensitise and apprise all stakeholders about the guidelines and implementation framework of VVP-II. During the meeting, the District Planning Officer (DPO), Bomdila, delivered a detailed presentation based on inputs furnished by the concerned administrative officers for cross-verification and gap analysis to identify and select new proposals under the programme.
The ZPMs and HoDs actively participated in the deliberations and offered valuable suggestions for formulation of upcoming proposals. Representatives of the SSB also highlighted several strategic requirements in border villages which, besides generating livelihood opportunities, would strengthen the security interests of the border guarding forces in villages covered under VVP-II.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar urged all departments and ZPMs to carefully plan and propose schemes strictly in accordance with VVP-II guidelines. He stressed the importance of prior confirmation and proper documentation of land availability to avoid complications during implementation.
The DC further stated that the proposed schemes should promote community participation and sustainable livelihood generation along with creation of essential infrastructure and amenities in border villages. He added that such initiatives would help curb migration from border areas and encourage reverse migration to frontier villages. (DIPRO)
