ROING/PASIGHAT, May 13: The department of Sericulture Zone-V, Roing under Lower Dibang Valley district organized a farmers’ awareness -cum-training on pre & post cocoon technology and bee keeping at Muga Firm, Jia on Tuesday, which was attended by several farmers from in and around Jia, Roing including two progressive farmers from East Siang district.
Funded by the Directorate of Sericulture (GoAP), the awareness programme for farmers was conducted under promotion of sericulture in the State for the year 2025-26.
From the department, the event was led by Dy Director Sericulture Dagmo Riba, Zonal Officer Sericulture Zone-V Talong Tadeng and Sericulture Development Officer of Roing, Ani Lego who trained the farmers on pre and post cocoon technology and bee keeping and its economical benefits.
Interacting with the farmers, Riba said that the selected farmers will be further trained on silkworm and bee rearing by providing support from the government on providing equipment and plantations of silkworm.
Tadeng and Lego urged the farmers to use the provided technological knowledge on pre-cocoon (sericulture) and post-cocoon (silk processing) part including bee keeping, to generate income and employment for the rural communities.
The progressive farmers from East Siang like Takir Taloh from Ledum village and Mijing Kening from Seram village also shared their ideas and knowledge about pre & post cocoon processing, including bee keeping, which gives good return to the farmers.
