Guv stresses transparency, accountability during meeting with Lokayukta Chairman

Itanagar, May 14: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Thursday stressed the need for strict adherence to rules, transparency in governance and prompt action against corruption while interacting with State Lokayukta Chairman Justice (Retd) Prasanta Kumar Deka at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar.

During the meeting, the Governor expressed serious concern over instances of non-adherence to procedures and wilful violations of existing rules and regulations by departments and individuals. He observed that such practices weaken governance systems and erode public confidence in institutions.

Emphasising the importance of integrity and accountability in public administration, the Governor said ethical conduct among public servants is vital for ensuring transparent governance and equitable development in the state.

The Governor also highlighted the important role of the Lokayukta as an independent anti-corruption authority and ombudsman responsible for safeguarding public interest. He said the institution must function with fairness, transparency and efficiency while ensuring impartial investigation into complaints and allegations.

Calling for speedy investigation and timely disposal of public grievances, the Governor noted that citizens expect quick and effective justice delivery mechanisms from public institutions.

He further stated that prompt action against corruption, misdeeds and maladministration would strengthen people’s faith in the democratic system and help promote a culture of accountability in governance.
