Joint operation destroys wild cannabis spread across 12 acres in East Siang dist

PASIGHAT, May 15: In a coordinated anti-drug operation, the East Siang district administration, police, and Forest Department jointly destroyed wild Cannabis Sativa plants spread across nearly 12 acres of land behind the Veterinary Training Institute at 2 Mile, Pasighat, on Thursday.

The operation was carried out by officials and personnel from the district administration, police, and Forest Department under the supervision of Town Magistrate Sanjay Taram (SDO) and Deputy Superintendent of Police and In-charge of the Anti-Drug Squad, Ayup Boko.

All legal procedures, including videography and documentation of the destruction process, were completed during the operation in accordance with prescribed norms.

East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba reiterated the district police’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and illegal drug activities. He appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting any instances of illegal cannabis cultivation or suspicious drug-related activities in the district.

The district administration and police further emphasized that strict action would continue against activities linked to narcotics and substance abuse in the region.
