ITANAGAR, May 18: The All Arunachal RTI Activist Association Bichom District Unit (AARTIAA-BDU) has alleged large-scale irregularities in land compensation and alignments under Frontier Highway (NH-913) Package-1 in Bichom district and demanded immediate re-verification of the project land.
Addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club on Monday, AARTIAA-BDU president Sangcho Zongluju alleged corruption in compensation paid to Project Affected Families (PAFs) under the Frontier Highway project.
He further alleged involvement of local MLA Dongru Siongju and the Deputy Commissioner of the district in the alleged irregularities related to land compensation and alignment under NH-913 Package-1.
Zongluju appealed to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to order a ground-level verification of the alleged irregularities and assess the extent of the alleged misuse of public funds.
The Association also urged Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister Rijiju to allow independent re-verification of land compensation and highway alignments under the project in Bichom district.
According to Zongluju, the organisation had submitted a representation to the State Govt and concerned authorities on February 2, 2026, seeking an independent and time-bound inquiry into the matter, but claimed that no response has been received so far.
Among its demands, the Association sought physical verification of land under Frontier Highway NH-913 Package-1, suspension of further compensation disbursement until completion of re-verification, recovery of alleged excess payments, and strict action against officials or individuals found responsible for any irregularities.
It also alleged that despite lodging a complaint with the State’s Anti-Corruption Bureau earlier, no investigation has yet been initiated.
“We are here on behalf of the project-affected families. Any attempt to ignore or suppress this issue will deepen public distrust in the administration,” Zongluju said. He warned that the Association may launch democratic protests in the district if the Govt fails to address the demand for re-verification at the earliest.
