Modi’s Swedish honour reflects India’s rising global stature: Khandu

Itanagar, May 19: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday described the conferment of Sweden’s highest honour upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a proud moment for every Indian, stating that the recognition reflects India’s growing global stature and the PM's exceptional leadership on the world stage.

King Harald V of Norway on Monday conferred upon Modi the ‘Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit’ for his contribution to advancing the India-Norway relationship and his leadership.

“Proud moment for every Indian as Hon Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji is conferred the Royal Order of the Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross by Sweden, the highest honour bestowed upon a Head of Government,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.

Highlighting the significance of the recognition, Khandu said the honour marked yet another milestone in India’s growing diplomatic and global influence under the leadership of Modi.

“The 31st international honour bestowed upon him stands as a testament to India’s growing global stature and PM Modi’s exceptional leadership and statesmanship on the world stage,” he added.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also congratulated the Prime Minister on another international recognition conferred by the Kingdom of Norway.

Describing the award as a reflection of the Prime Minister’s leadership and India’s growing international prominence, Mein said the prestigious honour is a reflection of his visionary leadership and India’s rising stature on the global stage.

He stated that the recognition underscored the PM's commitment to strengthening global partnerships and enhancing India’s diplomatic engagement across nations.

“This recognition will further deepen the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between India and Norway,” Mein added. (PTI)
