ITANAGAR, May 19: Police authorities have intensified Inner Line Permit (ILP) enforcement drives in West Kameng and Tawang districts, leading to the detection of several ILP violators and initiation of legal action under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act.

According to the West Kameng Superintendent of Police, a total of 20 ILP violators were detected during ongoing enforcement drives conducted in the jurisdictions of Rupa, Dirang and Bhalukpong Police Stations on Tuesday.

Police informed that non-FIR cases have been registered against the violators under Section 3 of the BEFR Act and legal action has been initiated as per provisions of the law.

In a separate operation, police personnel from Jang and Lumla Police Stations in Tawang district carried out an ILP verification and checking drive in and around Jang and Lumla township areas on Monday.

During the checking drive, police detected 11 non-local labourers working at various construction sites without valid Inner Line Permits, thereby violating provisions of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873.
