Nyadar Poyom of IPS-Roing emerges winner in State level Jr cum Inter-School FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2026

ITANAGAR, May 20: The 3rd State level Jr cum Inter-School FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2026 concluded at the premises of VKV Chimpu here on Tuesday, as 28 players including 8 under age categories were awarded trophy with incentives.

Around 160 students from 28 different schools across the State participated in the event. Of which, nine players are expected to get FIDE rating very soon.

Nyadar Poyom (Intaya Public School-Roing) won the championship, followed by Jito Dirchi (VKV-Chimpu) and Oonshu Haging (JNV-Megdong) finishing at 2nd and 3rd position, respectively. These three players will represent Arunachal Pradesh at National Under-19 Chess Championship-2026 and AAPCA will sponsor them.

On the other hand, Jumsi Lollen emerged as the best performing girl of the tournament.

The best players in 8 underage categories include Koj Hempyo (Under-9 boys), Jumman Lollen (U-9 girls), Nyelam Beomen (U-11 boys), Posmi Ronya (U-11 girls), Begia Josh (U-13 boys), Lukna Lomdak (U-13 girls), Chuku Niting (U-15 boys), and Binia Lomdak (U-15 girls).

Former Kamle ZPC Biri Santi, and Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association (AAPCA) secretary Tamchi Kache graced the closing ceremony of the tournament.
