Army-hosted 2nd edition of Siang Futsal Tournament concludes at Tuting

YINGKIONG, May 20: The Indian Army’s Spearhead Division under Spear Corps successfully concluded the second edition of the Siang Futsal Tournament at the Tuting Sports Complex in the picturesque Siang Valley of the State.

The tournament, which commenced on May 8, culminated in an electrifying final match between Gelling Norbulling Youth and NBBK (Nyigong Boying Bangoo Kebang) Society, amid enthusiastic cheers from spectators and a display of exceptional sportsmanship.

NBBK Society emerged as champions of the second edition of the Siang Futsal Tournament.

The grand finale witnessed overwhelming participation and support from the local community, transforming the sports complex into a vibrant celebration of youth talent, unity and community spirit.

The closing ceremony was attended by senior military officials, representatives from the civil administration of Tuting, village elders, youth clubs, school children and residents from nearby border villages.

A total of 12 men’s and three women’s teams from nearby villages and educational institutions participated in the tournament with immense enthusiasm and competitive spirit. Throughout the competition, players showcased remarkable talent, discipline, teamwork and determination, highlighting the immense sporting potential of the youth in remote border areas. The spirited participation of the women’s teams further underscored the growing inclusivity and empowerment of young women through sports initiatives in the region.

The winning and runners-up teams were felicitated with trophies, medals and prize money during the closing ceremony, while all participants were commended for their commitment to fair play and exemplary conduct both on and off the field.

Organized with the objective of promoting physical fitness, healthy competition and constructive youth engagement, the Siang Futsal Tournament also served as an important platform to foster social harmony and strengthen community relations in the border region. Through such initiatives, the Indian Army continues to encourage positive youth development and inspire confidence among the younger generation.
