PASIGHAT, May 21: Renowned cake artists Tacho Taggu and Suresh Sabar have brought international recognition to India by winning two prestigious titles at the 4th Asia Cake Oscars (World Edition) held in Colombo recently.
Representing India at the global culinary event, the duo secured top honours in the highly competitive categories of Non-Dairy Flowers and Cake Sculptures & Sugar Models.
The competition featured participation from internationally acclaimed culinary artists, master bakers and pastry sculptors. Amid intense global competition, the edible creations crafted by the Pasighat-based chefs were recognised for their creativity, precision and artistic excellence.
The achievement adds to the duo’s growing list of accolades, following three consecutive national-level victories in recent years. The chefs said the recognition is not only a personal milestone but also an inspiration for aspiring culinary artists from the Northeast and across the country.
“We want this achievement to motivate budding chefs and cake artists across Northeast India and beyond. Culinary entrepreneurship has immense potential when backed by dedication and mastery of the craft,” the duo stated.
Apart from participating in competitions, the chefs are also actively involved in training aspiring bakers and entrepreneurs through their venture, Sugar Arts Studio.
The Pasighat-based academy offers professional training in baking, confectionery and sugar art, helping young entrepreneurs and home bakers develop practical skills and transform their passion into sustainable business opportunities.
Sugar Arts Studio – Academy of Baking and Culinary Arts – is equipped with a structured learning facility and is managed by national award-winning chefs with over a decade of industry experience. The institute focuses on hands-on training programmes aimed at building viable culinary enterprises in the region.
