CATC-19 at Tawang focuses on fostering discipline, leadership, disaster preparedness

TAWANG, May 24: The 2 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC, Tawang, successfully conducted the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-19 from May 14 to 23 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Tawang, with enthusiastic participation from 164 NCC cadets representing Tawang and West Kameng districts.

The 10-day camp was organised with the aim of fostering discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork and overall personality development among the cadets through a series of training sessions, awareness programmes and extracurricular activities.

During the camp, cadets attended a series of informative and motivational lectures on various important topics such as biodiversity conservation, gender sensitivity, benefits of joining the NCC and career opportunities in the Indian Army.

As part of the camp activities, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) conducted training under the Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme for 95 SD/SW cadets. The programme focused on disaster preparedness and emergency response skills. Cadets received practical training in CPR, bleeding control, splinting, search and rescue operations, rappelling and other basic first aid procedures, significantly enhancing their disaster response capabilities.

To further enhance awareness and interest among the cadets, a weapon display was organized during the camp, providing firsthand exposure to various weapons and military equipment.

Several competitions and interactive activities, including drill competitions, drawing contests, group discussions and cultural programmes, were conducted to encourage confidence, creativity, leadership and team spirit among participants.

The camp concluded successfully with active participation from cadets, instructors and staff members, reflecting the NCC’s continued commitment towards youth development, leadership training and nation-building initiatives. (DIPRO)
