PASIGHAT, May 29: Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, the oldest and largest higher educational institution in Arunachal Pradesh, officially launched a comprehensive College Automation System on Friday, marking a major step towards digital, transparent and efficient campus administration.
The system was inaugurated in the presence of local MLA Tapi Darang, who lauded the initiative and termed it an important move towards modern governance in educational institutions.
“Though such a system should have been introduced earlier, its implementation today is a major stride forward. This initiative will enhance transparency and efficiency while reducing the difficulties faced by students, especially during admissions,” the MLA said.
Reaffirming his commitment to the institution’s infrastructural development, Darang also announced support for the construction of a bore well in the upper campus to address the college’s longstanding water supply issues.
JNC Principal Dr Gindu Borang described the launch as a defining moment in the institution’s journey towards accountability and modernization. He said the automation system would replace cumbersome manual procedures, reduce human errors and streamline administrative functions ranging from admissions to day-to-day operations.
“By digitizing workflows, the college can focus more on academic excellence rather than clerical tasks,” he said, adding that the successful implementation reflected the college’s resilience and willingness to evolve with changing technological demands.
Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang emphasized that automation has become essential in the era of Artificial Intelligence. He thanked the MLA and his team for their support and noted that the platform would serve as a centralized system for students and staff to access accurate, real-time information.
During a technical presentation, Koj Taro, Associate Professor (CS), explained that the project is currently in its initial phase and is designed to eventually manage the complete student lifecycle, including admissions, attendance, hostel and employee management, as well as student assessment and evaluation tracking.
The inauguration programme was attended by PMC Deputy Chief Councilor Kamin Lego, JNC Alumni Association representative Aning Borang, PWD Executive Engineer Kaling Panggeng, heads of departments and members of the technical team.
With the launch of the automation system, JNC Pasighat has set a new benchmark in digital integration and administrative efficiency among higher educational institutions in the region.
