Voluntary blood donation drive marks Dr Minge Loyi’s 7th death anniversary

Pasighat, May 30: A voluntary blood donation drive was organised at Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH) here on Saturday under the Pan Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donation Programme, collecting 25 units of blood for the hospital’s blood bank.

The programme was held in memory of late Dr Minge Loyi, former president of the Galo Welfare Society, on his seventh death anniversary, commemorating his lifelong commitment to social service and humanitarian causes.

The drive was inaugurated by Medical Superintendent of BPGH, Dr B Apum, who lauded the initiative and encouraged more citizens to participate in voluntary blood donation, describing it as a noble act capable of saving lives.

The blood donation camp was conducted under the supervision of Blood Bank Officer Dr D Modi and his medical team. Organised by the Galo Ao Blood Donation Group, led by chairman Kengo Zirdo and vice-chairman Gebi Kambu, the programme was guided by GWS-East Siang District Unit president Er Minkar Doji, general secretary Jompa Kakki, and women’s wing president Gumpi Angu Riba.

A large number of community members participated in the drive, with 25 units of blood voluntarily donated, including 20 units from male donors and five units from female donors.

Organisers said the collected blood would directly strengthen the hospital’s blood bank and help meet emergency medical requirements for patients in need. They expressed gratitude to all donors, medical personnel, volunteers and the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) for their support and cooperation in making the programme a success. (DIPRO)
