Indian Army promotes wellness with high-altitude yoga session in Shi-Yomi

ITANAGAR, May 31: As part of the month-long celebrations leading up to International Yoga Day 2026, the Spearhead Division under the Spear Corps of the Indian Army conducted a yoga session for soldiers on the picturesque banks of Pasang Sonam Lake in Shi Yomi district, Arunachal Pradesh.

Held at an altitude of nearly 9,000 feet, the session witnessed enthusiastic participation from troops deployed in forward areas. Soldiers practised various yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques amid the pristine high-altitude environment.

Set against the serene backdrop of Pasang Sonam Lake, the programme aimed to promote physical fitness, mental resilience, inner balance and harmony with nature. Army officials highlighted the significance of yoga in enhancing the well-being of personnel operating in challenging terrain and remote border regions.

The session underscored the role of yoga in improving flexibility, concentration and stress management while fostering a positive mindset, camaraderie and collective motivation among troops.

The event reflected the Indian Army’s continued focus on holistic wellness, discipline and operational readiness. It also showcased the commitment of soldiers stationed in frontier areas to actively participate in national initiatives such as International Yoga Day.

The Army has been conducting a series of yoga-related activities across various formations as part of the nationwide build-up to International Yoga Day 2026, promoting the message of health, wellness and mindfulness among its personnel.
