Itanagar, Jun 1: The Human Rights of Arunachal (HRA), led by its chairman Dr Kipa Kaha, has expressed serious concern over the ongoing administrative developments at NERIST, Nirjuli, and called for an independent inquiry into the matter.
In a statement issued on Monday, HRA alleged that NERIST has been facing an administrative crisis following the resignation of its Director, Prof Narendranath S. The organisation stated that the development has raised concerns among stakeholders and created uncertainty regarding the functioning of the premier educational institution.
According to HRA, the resignation came a day after suspension orders were reportedly issued against the Institute’s Registrar Mai Kuru Camder and Assistant Registrar Boge Kamduk on May 29 in connection with alleged irregularities and manipulation of the Recruitment Rules (RRs) 2022 related to non-teaching staff recruitment.
The organisation noted that the current situation could adversely affect the academic environment and administrative functioning of NERIST, which caters to students from across the Northeast region.
HRA appealed to the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly the Education Minister, to intervene and constitute an inquiry committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recent developments.
The organisation also urged the Union Ministry of Education to take appropriate measures to ensure transparency, accountability, and the smooth functioning of the Institute.
“The welfare of students and the integrity of educational institutions must remain the highest priority. Any allegations of irregularities should be thoroughly investigated through a fair and impartial process in accordance with the law,” the statement said.
