ITANAGAR, Jun 3: Vehicular movement along the Akajan–Likabali–Bame Road, a crucial lifeline connecting the upper districts of Arunachal Pradesh, was disrupted on Wednesday morning following heavy rain-triggered landslides and debris accumulation at multiple locations.
According to Lower Siang District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Tarik Nyitan, landslides and debris accumulation caused road blockages at Siji, Hathi Nallah, and Brahmaputra View Point, cutting off traffic movement to and from the region.
Upon receiving reports of the disruptions, the Lower Siang district administration swiftly launched restoration operations by deploying earth movers and excavators to the affected sites. Teams worked continuously to remove debris and clear the roadway.
Owing to the prompt response and coordinated efforts of the district administration, traffic movement along the affected stretches was successfully restored by the afternoon, providing much-needed relief to commuters and residents of the upper districts.
The district administration has advised commuters to exercise caution while travelling along the route, as continued rainfall may trigger fresh landslides and cause further road blockages in vulnerable areas.
Officials have urged the public to stay updated on weather conditions and follow safety advisories issued by the authorities. (With DIPRO inputs)
