ITANAGAR, Jun 4: As part of Operation Sadbhavna and aligning with the vision of the Vibrant Villages Programme, the Spearhead Division of the Indian Army under the aegis of Spear Corps successfully conducted a Vibrant Volleyball Tournament at Taksing in Upper Subansiri district on Wednesday, which involved local youth, villagers and Army personnel in a spirited celebration of sportsmanship, cultural harmony and community participation.
The event reflected the shared vision of fostering vibrant villages through youth engagement, grassroots development and strengthened civil-military cooperation in one of the country’s remote frontier regions.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from both males and females, with six men’s and four women’s teams competing in a series of exciting matches. Throughout the competition, players displayed exceptional teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, making the event a true celebration of sporting excellence and community spirit.
The tournament generated tremendous enthusiasm among the local population, with large numbers of residents gathering to support their teams. The atmosphere remained vibrant throughout the event, marked by wholehearted community participation. Even during the final matches, when rain interrupted play, the determination of the players and the enthusiasm of the spectators remained undiminished, reflecting the resilience, unity and indomitable spirit of the people of Taksing.
Prior to the tournament, the Army upgraded the volleyball court at Taksing, creating an improved sporting facility for local youth and promoting greater participation in sports at the grassroots level. The initiative aimed to encourage healthy competition, nurture local talent and provide a constructive platform for community engagement.
Adding colour and cultural vibrancy to the occasion, Indian Army personnel and local artists presented captivating performances based on the theme ‘West Meets East’. The cultural programme showcased the rich heritage of the region while promoting cultural exchange, mutual understanding and stronger bonds between the Indian Army and the local community.
The tournament wrapped up with a prize distribution ceremony, where winning teams and outstanding performers were felicitated for their achievements.
