TAWANG, Jun 9: In a bid to strengthen rural entrepreneurship and promote women-led enterprises, the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) under the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), Tawang, organised a one-day FSSAI and UDYAM Registration Camp at the BMMU Training Hall, Walk Through Market, Tawang.
The programme aimed to encourage formal registration of enterprises and create greater awareness about government schemes available to entrepreneurs, particularly women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and small business owners.
Addressing the participants, Dr Tsewang Dorjee of BMMU Tawang highlighted the importance of FSSAI and UDYAM registration in enhancing business credibility, expanding market access and unlocking growth opportunities. He also spoke about various government initiatives aimed at creating “Lakhpati Didis” and shared the vision of enabling every Producer Group to achieve an annual turnover of more than Rs 10 lakh.
He also informed participants that SHG products would soon be showcased at Hollongi Airport, offering valuable marketing opportunities. He mentioned that both FSSAI and UDYAM registrations would be mandatory for participation in the initiative.
Deputy Director of Industries, Tawang, Tsering Drema, conducted an awareness session on UDYAM Registration and the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. She explained the registration process, eligibility criteria and benefits available to registered enterprises. She also cautioned participants against fraudulent websites and clarified that UDYAM registration is free through the official government portal.
Drema further highlighted the advantages available to registered SHGs, including access to government support programmes and opportunities to participate in procurement and tendering through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
Food Safety Officer Dr Kesang Yeshi Tukshipa provided detailed information on FSSAI registration, food safety regulations and the benefits available to registered food business operators.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address by Drema Lhamu, Block Coordinator (Livelihoods–Non-Farm), who encouraged participants to actively engage with resource persons and seek clarification on registration-related issues.
The camp witnessed the participation of 40 attendees, including members of women Self-Help Groups, Mothers' Kitchens and local entrepreneurs. An interactive session enabled participants to discuss challenges and opportunities related to enterprise development and business registration.
A key outcome of the programme was the successful on-the-spot registration of several enterprises under both FSSAI and UDYAM, marking a significant step towards business formalisation, improved market access and sustainable growth.
The initiative reflects ArSRLM’s continued efforts to strengthen rural enterprises, promote women entrepreneurship and create sustainable livelihood opportunities across Arunachal Pradesh. (DIPRO)
