ITANAGAR, Jun 11: Newly elected Rajya Sabha member Tai Tagak was accorded a grand welcome by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers following his unopposed election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Arunachal Pradesh.
The reception was led by State BJP president Kaling Moyong and attended by party office-bearers, senior leaders and karyakartas. The occasion was marked by celebrations, with party workers greeting the newly elected parliamentarian with bouquets, sweets and congratulatory messages.
A former state BJP president and former advisor to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Tagak's rise from humble beginnings to becoming a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha was highlighted as an inspiring example of perseverance, commitment and public service.
Speaking on the occasion, Moyong lauded Tagak's longstanding contribution to the party and expressed confidence that he would effectively represent the aspirations and interests of the people of Arunachal Pradesh in the Upper House of Parliament.
The BJP state unit described Tagak's election as a significant milestone for both the party and the state, stating that his achievement would serve as an inspiration to party workers and aspiring leaders across Arunachal Pradesh.
Tagak was declared elected unopposed earlier in the day after being the sole candidate in the election for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from the state. He is set to succeed incumbent Rajya Sabha member Nabam Rebia, whose tenure ends on June 23.
