Itanagar, Jun 15: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday held a meeting with a delegation of the newly elected Central Executive Members of the Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) to discuss issues relating to the draft Rules of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act (APFRA), 1978.
Describing the interaction as positive and meaningful, Khandu said the state government's foremost priority remains peace, harmony and progress. He emphasized that no religious community in Arunachal Pradesh should feel hurt, excluded or alienated.
“Our government’s driving priority will always be peace, harmony and progress. In our beautiful state, every faith, every tradition and every citizen is an invaluable part of the Arunachal family,” Khandu said in a social media post after the meeting.
According to ACF leaders, the delegation discussed the anti-conversion law and expressed concerns regarding its possible adverse impact. During the meeting, members of the Forum highlighted the importance of maintaining communal harmony and peaceful coexistence among all sections of society.
The interaction comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding the proposed APFRA Rules, with the government engaging stakeholders and community organizations to ensure broader consultation and understanding on the issue.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusivity and mutual respect, Khandu said Arunachal Pradesh's strength lies in its diversity and the harmonious coexistence of its various communities.
