P/Pare, Tirap fete girl student toppers under BBBP Scheme

YUPIA, Jun 17: The Women and Child Development (WCD) Department, Papum Pare, felicitated the district's girl student toppers of Classes X and XII under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme at a programme held at the DC Conference Hall here on Wednesday.

The awardees included Yangam Maying of PM Shri Govt Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Doimukh, who topped Class X; Bamang Yamu of GHSS, Kimin, topper in the Humanities stream of Class XII; Nangram Lily of PM Shri GHSS, Doimukh, topper in Science stream; and Nabam Pumin of GHSS, Sagalee, topper in the Commerce stream. Each of the toppers was presented with a cash award of Rs 10,000 and a citation in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering said that education should not merely be used for acquiring degrees, but should help in enhancing aptitude, skills, and the overall personality development of students. He emphasized that students should be equipped with both academic knowledge and life skills so that they become truly educated individuals in the real sense, and not merely literate.

Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar, who also attended the programme, described the cash awards as a token of appreciation and encouragement for the achievers. He advised the students to remain focused, consistent and determined in pursuing their goals in an increasingly competitive world.

Deputy Director of School Education TT Tara said the awards were significant as they exclusively recognized the achievements of girl students and would inspire others to excel academically. He noted that girls have been consistently performing exceptionally well in various examinations and credited their success to the combined efforts of students, parents and teachers.

Earlier, Deputy Director of WCD Jaya Aba, in her keynote address, highlighted the objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme and informed that the annual felicitation programme aims to motivate girl students to strive for excellence and pursue their aspirations with confidence.

The programme was attended by officials of the WCD Department, teachers, parents and students.

KHONSA: In an effort to recognize their academic show, meritorious local tribal girl students were felicitated under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme in a ceremony, held at the DC’s conference hall here today.

Organized by the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), Tirap to recognize and celebrate the outstanding performance of local tribal girl students in the Class X and Class XII Board examinations.

Awards were presented in two categories—government schools and govt-aided/private recognized schools. Under the scheme, first position holders in both Class X and Class XII examinations received a cash award of Rs 15,000 each, while second rankers received Rs 10,000 each.

The awardees in govt schools are Nyiamjih Agan (GSS Dadam) – first, and Komnoap Nokbi (GTSS Khonsa) – second (class X); and Nyari Rongsak (GHSS Borduria) – first, and Comvian Tesia (GHSS Khonsa) – second (class XII).

In the category of class X – Govt-aided and private recognized schools, the honours went to Chanyok Lowang, RK Sarada Mission School, Khonsa – first, and Aaronsen C Tangjang, RK Sarada Mission School, Khonsa – second.

Speaking on the occasion, Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran said: “Girls today are excelling in every sphere of life. Whether in academics, competitive examinations or leadership roles, they are proving their capabilities and often outperforming boys. Parents who have daughters are truly fortunate. We must give our girls every opportunity to learn, grow and achieve their dreams.”

Congratulating the awardees, the DC lauded their hard work and dedication, and encouraged them not to stop at their present achievements. He reminded the students that success is a continuous journey and there is always room for growth and improvement. He also called upon parents to treat boys and girls equally and to continue investing in the education of their daughters, emphasizing that an educated girl strengthens not only her family but society as a whole.

The felicitation programme was also attended by Hacham Bangsia, Deputy Director WCD; K Hangphuk, DAEO (i/c DDSE Khonsa); Pakkar Nomuk, CDPO Namsang; and Ponung Tasing, DIPRO Khonsa, along with students, parents and guardians.

In her address, Bangsia stated that the scheme aims to ensure the survival, protection and education of the girl child while creating an environment where girls can thrive and realize their full potential. (DIPROs)
