ITANAGAR, Jun 19: A cadre of the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) faction was apprehended during a joint operation conducted by the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles and Tirap Police in the Hydel area of Khonsa in Tirap district on Thursday, police sources said on Friday.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of an underground cadre in the area.
Acting on the information, the security forces carried out a coordinated operation that led to the apprehension of an active member of the outfit.
The arrested individual was identified as Langsom Losu alias Gangsa (32), who is reportedly associated with the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) faction.
During the operation, the security forces recovered a 7.65 mm pistol with a magazine, 10 live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, and a bag from his possession.
The apprehended cadre, along with the recovered items, was handed over to Tirap Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Security officials said the successful operation highlighted the close coordination and operational synergy between Assam Rifles and Tirap Police in maintaining law and order in the region.
They added that the joint effort reflects the continued commitment of security forces to counter insurgent activities and ensure peace, stability and security in Tirap district and adjoining areas.
