ITANAGAR, Jun 19: In a major boost to rural youth employment, the Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) on Friday organized a Mass Career Counselling-cum-Job Offer Letter Distribution Programme under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) in Itanagar, facilitating employment opportunities for hundreds of trained candidates.
A total of 397 trained candidates received job offer letters during the programme, narrowly surpassing the placement target of 400 candidates set for four Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) — Nurture Employability Economic Development Society, Topu Bui Multipurpose Society, Sheep Society, and Spurthi Rural Development.
The selected candidates secured placements in several reputed organizations, including Gokuldas Exports, Adani Group, Barbeque Nation Hospitality Ltd, as well as hospitality establishments such as Revermist Resorts, Clarks Inn, Papaya Tree, Flechazo, Hotel Regalia, Corinthians Resorts, Soge Restro, Hotel Donyi Polo and Hotel Todo.
The candidates will be deployed across various locations including Karnataka, Goa, Dehradun, Indore, Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Pune and Itanagar, providing them with diverse career opportunities in sectors such as hospitality, retail, apparel manufacturing and services.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome and keynote address by State Mission Manager (Placement, Mobilisation and Branding), Nabam Ompi, who commended employers and Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) for their efforts in achieving the placement milestone. She stressed the importance of building strong and mutually beneficial relationships between employers and employees to ensure long-term professional growth and stability.
Deputy Commissioner of the Itanagar Capital Region, Toko Babu, formally inaugurated the programme. Addressing the gathering, he encouraged young job seekers to pursue their career goals with determination, continuously upgrade their skills, and contribute meaningfully to the state's development.
The event also featured garment design displays, cultural performances, experience-sharing sessions by DDU-GKY beneficiaries, and presentations showcasing the skills, confidence and talent developed through the programme.
Among those present were representatives from participating employers, including Ranjit Tigga of Gokuldas Exports Pvt Ltd, Jayanta Saha of Barbeque Nation, Agge Sorang of Soge Restro and David Bora of Hotel Todo, along with officials from PIAs, government departments and media organizations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Chief Operating Officer (Skills), ArSRLM, who reaffirmed the Mission's commitment to bridging the gap between skilled rural youth with meaningful employment opportunities. He highlighted the importance of harnessing Arunachal Pradesh's demographic dividend for economic growth and appreciated the efforts of the DDU-GKY placement team and partner agencies.
The initiative reflects ArSRLM's continued focus on skill development, employability and sustainable livelihood creation for rural youth across the State, officials said.
