ITANAGAR, Jun 20: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Saturday joined the nationwide campaign launched by the Indian National Congress against alleged paper leaks, examination irregularities and rising unemployment, demanding greater accountability and transparency in the country's education and recruitment systems.
Addressing a press conference here, APCC spokesperson Jhonny Yangfo expressed concern over repeated incidents of examination-related controversies and their impact on students and job aspirants.
He alleged that recurring paper leak incidents have undermined the credibility of competitive examinations and adversely affected the future of millions of students across the country.
Yangfo said that merit-based selection processes must remain fair and transparent, and called for comprehensive reforms to strengthen the integrity of examination and recruitment systems.
Yangfo said the APCC extended its support to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who is seeking resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA) from conducting examinations such as NEET and CUET.
Asserting that the future of India cannot be built on leaked papers, cancelled examinations, delayed recruitment and broken promises, APCC further went on to question the credibility of PM Modi’s silence on the issues, which it says is directly affecting the future of India’s youths.
The party also expressed concern about the challenges faced by students from Arunachal Pradesh, particularly those from remote areas, who often incur significant expenses and face logistical difficulties while appearing for examinations conducted outside the state.
Among its key demands, the APCC sought a transparent investigation into alleged examination irregularities, stringent action against those found responsible for paper leaks, structural reforms to improve accountability, timely conduct of examinations and recruitment processes, and stronger safeguards to protect students' interests.
Speaking about Rahul Gandhi’s next movement, “Chhatron ki goonj” to be held on July 10 at Allahabad, July 11 at Patna and July 14 in Delhi, the APCC spokesperson appealed to youth organisations, civil society groups, educators and citizens to support efforts aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in the education and recruitment sectors.
The campaign forms part of a broader nationwide initiative by the Congress party focusing on issues relating to education, employment and opportunities for young people.
