State Teleradiology Hub launched at TRIHMS to strengthen diagnostic services across Arunachal

Itanagar, Jun 22: Health Minister Biyuram Wahge on Monday inaugurated the State Teleradiology Hub along with a Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun.

Implemented under the National Health Mission (NHM), the initiative aims to create a statewide digital radiology network linking hospitals and health centres across Arunachal Pradesh with expert radiologists.

Under the new system, X-rays, CT scans and other radiological images generated at remote healthcare facilities can be securely transmitted online for expert interpretation and reporting, significantly reducing delays in diagnosis.

Speaking on the occasion, Wahge said the initiative marks a major step towards strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring equitable access to quality diagnostic services throughout the state.

The minister noted that the digital platform will enable patients in remote and far-flung areas to receive faster and more accurate radiology reports without needing to travel to larger hospitals solely for diagnostic evaluation.

The RIS and PACS systems will also facilitate better record management by digitally storing and sharing medical images and reports, reducing dependence on physical films and paperwork while improving efficiency and continuity of care.

According to the Health Department, the integrated teleradiology network is expected to enhance diagnostic capabilities across the state, support timely clinical decision-making and contribute to improved patient outcomes.

The initiative is seen as a significant advancement in leveraging technology to bridge healthcare gaps and ensure that quality diagnostic services reach citizens regardless of their geographical location.
