DTFI takes a review of RI, IPPI & NQAS in P/Pare

YUPIA, Jun 23: A review meeting of the District Task Force on Immunization (DTFI) on Routine Immunization (RI), Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) and National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) was held at the DC’s conference hall here in Papum Pare district today.

The meeting, which was the first DTFI meeting of 2026, was chaired by Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman District Health Society (DHS), Lobsang Tsering.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that while some targets may appear difficult at times, the district should focus on achieving the maximum possible coverage and results.

He said that the district has been performing relatively well as per the health indicators and parameters, but stressed the need for proper tracking and monitoring, especially as Papum Pare shares a floating population with the Capital Region. He also urged all facility in-charges to start working towards achieving National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification in their respective health institutions.

District Medical Officer Dr Reena Ronya, while reviewing the maternal health parameters of the district, urged the Medical Officers In-Charge (MOICs) and concerned officers to make proper use of ASHAs in spreading awareness on the importance of maternal health and regular antenatal check-ups during pregnancy. She also suggested that ASHA review meetings may be used as a platform for distribution of pregnancy kits to beneficiaries.

During the meeting, Dr Tomar Kamki presented a detailed PPT on the RI micro plan. Various points related to immunization coverage, validation of population data, tracking of pregnant women and children, and strengthening of ASHA activities were discussed in detail.

Further, Dr Tania Raju presented a PPT on quality assurance and explained how health facilities can work towards achieving NQAS certification.

He informed that PHC Taraso has received State Quality Certification, while PHC Soppo has achieved National Quality Certification. Gumto has also received State Certification.

Under the Kayakalp initiative, CHC Kimin received the Kayakalp Award in 2025, while PHC Taraso, PHC Soppo and Gumto received recommendation certificates.

Dr Raju further informed that CHCs  Kimin, Sagalee, Basarnelo, Kakoi, Danka, Yupia and Ompuli have been identified as NQAS target health centres for the year 2025-26. He said achieving national quality certification would require dedicated efforts from the MOICs and the DHS as a whole.

As part of the meeting, Tadar Hari, District Coordinator VHAI, presented a PPT on LODOR. Representatives from WHO-NPSP also presented a presentation on the district RI micro-planning.
