Police busts alleged prostitution racket at Likabali resort, seven women rescued

Itanagar, Jun 25: Lower Siang District Police has uncovered an alleged prostitution racket operating from Bokchum Resort in Likabali and rescued seven women during a surprise raid conducted on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of Lower Siang Police, including women police personnel, along with an Executive Magistrate, following credible intelligence received from multiple sources, including the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS), Lower Siang District Unit, regarding alleged pimping and prostitution activities at the resort.

During the raid, seven women, reportedly hailing from Nagaland and Assam, were rescued from the premises. Police said all necessary procedures were followed to ensure their dignity and safety during the operation.

Following medical examinations, the rescued women were placed under the care of the One Stop Centre for counselling, protection and further legal assistance.

The resort owner, manager and several customers found on the premises were detained for questioning.

Based on the findings of the raid, a case has been registered at Likabali Police Station vide FIR No. 25/2026 under Sections 3 and 4 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

Police said the investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the alleged racket and identify all individuals involved.
