Dist Admin asks livestock owners to keep their animals properly secured, not allow them to roam freely

DAPORIJO, Jun 29: Continuing the Upper Subansiri District Administration’s efforts to maintain public safety, ensure road discipline, and enforce the relevant cattle control regulations, a joint enforcement drive was carried out today within the Daporijo township under the supervision of the executive magistrate.

During the operation, eight cattle and 13 goats found roaming unattended in public places and on roads were apprehended. The animals were seized for violating the notified restrictions against allowing domestic livestock to stray freely in public areas.

The enforcement action was undertaken with the assistance of officials from the concerned departments and field staff. Owners of the seized animals will be proceeded against as per the applicable provisions of law, and the animals shall be released only after completion of the prescribed legal formalities and payment of penalties, wherever applicable.

The DA, while reiterating that stray livestock poses a serious threat to road users, pedestrians, and public sanitation, stated that repeated advisories have already been issued directing livestock owners to keep their animals properly secured and not allow them to roam freely.

The Dist Admin has warned that such enforcement drives will continue on a regular basis, and stricter action will be initiated against habitual violators. All livestock owners are requested to cooperate with the administration in maintaining public order, cleanliness, and road safety. (DIPRO)
