Army refutes reports of Chinese PLA encroachment in Arunachal

Itanagar, Jun 30: The Indian Army has categorically denied media reports alleging recent encroachment by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the establishment of camps inside Arunachal Pradesh.

In a brief statement, the Army said it had taken note of reports circulating in sections of the media regarding alleged Chinese incursions and the setting up of settlements in the state, describing the claims as “incorrect and without any basis.”

“We have seen some media reports alleging recent encroachment by Chinese PLA and setting up of camps in Arunachal Pradesh. These reports are incorrect and without any basis,” the Indian Army stated.

The clarification comes amid political debate and public concern triggered by reports claiming that Chinese forces had allegedly encroached into areas of Arunachal Pradesh’s Taksing in Upper Subansri district and established camps within Indian territory.

The Army's statement seeks to dispel the allegations, maintaining that the reports do not reflect the ground situation.

Arunachal Pradesh shares a long and sensitive border with China, which continues to claim the state as part of what it refers to as “South Tibet.” The border issue remains a subject of diplomatic and military engagement between the two countries.

The Indian Army regularly maintains a robust presence along the frontier and closely monitors developments in border areas to safeguard the country's territorial integrity and security.
