YUPIA, Jul 2: A coordination meeting concerning the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was convened today under the chairmanship of Papum Pare District Election Officer (DEO) at the DC’s office conference hall here today.
The meeting saw active participation from the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and representatives from various political parties.
Welcoming the attendees, the DEO provided a comprehensive update on the progress of the SIR across the district. While reviewing the current status, he pointed out that the district is currently facing shortcoming in the distribution and collection of enumeration forms.
The DEO remarked that the progress in 14-Doimukh and 15-Sagalee (ST) Assembly Constituency is on track and acknowledged that 13-Itanagar is lagging behind in the enumeration process despite full effort from the election machinery. Along with house-to-house visits by the BLOs in coordination with the BLAs several special camps to boost the distribution and collection of enumeration forms have been setup in and around various locations of Capital Complex. Electors have been urged to contact their respective BLOs to fill their enumeration forms within the stipulated time.
He earnestly appealed to the representatives of all political parties present to extend their full cooperation and active support to ensure 100% coverage and accuracy during this intensive exercise.
Each of the AEROs provided a detailed status update regarding the progress of collection and digitization of enumeration forms in their respective Polling Stations (PS).
Representatives from the political parties shared valuable inputs and expressed deep concerns regarding the issues of double enrolment and fake voters in the electoral rolls.
The BLAs from each party, who are assisting their BLOs in distribution and collection of enumeration forms, reported that many of the electors are already enrolled in their native places and preferred to get enumerated there.
Further, it was also brought to the notice that many electors have permanently shifted or are dead but not deleted from the current electoral roll due to non-reporting by their relatives.
Addressing these concerns, the DEO assured the members that the SIR process is being meticulously conducted specifically to identify and eliminate such anomalies, thereby ensuring a clean and error-free voter list. (DIPRO)
