Minister Kento Jini urges Gadkari to entrust Akajan–Likabali–Bame road project to BRO

ITANAGAR, Jul 3: Arunachal Pradesh Minister Kento Jini has urged Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to entrust the implementation and maintenance of the Akajan–Likabali–Bame Strategic Road Project to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

In a letter to the Union minister, Jini described the Akajan–Likabali–Bame Strategic Road as more than just a road, calling it a lifeline for seven border districts of Arunachal Pradesh that is vital for connectivity, national security and socio-economic development.

Expressing gratitude to the Centre for declaring the Akajan–Likabali–Bame Road a strategic road under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jini said the decision reflects the Government of India's commitment to strengthening strategic border infrastructure.

He noted that the road was originally constructed, developed and maintained by the BRO before its implementation was transferred to the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) during 2014-15.

Highlighting BRO's expertise in executing infrastructure projects in difficult border areas, the minister said the organisation is best equipped to deliver the strategically significant project with quality, efficiency and timely execution.

He further stated that entrusting the project to BRO would ensure its expeditious completion and sustainable maintenance while safeguarding long-term national security interests and delivering lasting socio-economic benefits to the people of the region.

Jini appealed to Gadkari to intervene and designate BRO as the implementing and maintenance agency for the Akajan–Likabali–Bame Road Project, expressing confidence that the move would facilitate the timely completion of the nationally significant infrastructure project.
