ITANAGAR, Jul 3: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has congratulated researcher Dr Temin Payum and his team for successfully developing a natural hand wash from the state's native Dikang (Gymnocladus burmanicus), describing the innovation as an example of how indigenous knowledge can be combined with modern science to promote sustainable development.
In a message, Mein said Arunachal Pradesh continues to demonstrate how its rich biodiversity and traditional knowledge systems can inspire sustainable innovation.
He said the development of the eco-friendly hand wash from Dikang represents a significant achievement that bridges indigenous wisdom with scientific research while offering a sustainable alternative to synthetic hand wash products.
The Deputy Chief Minister noted that the innovation has the potential to create new opportunities for rural entrepreneurship, value addition, biodiversity conservation and livelihood generation for local communities.
Congratulating Dr Payum and the research team, Mein said their work highlights the immense potential of Arunachal Pradesh’s natural heritage and underscores the importance of promoting research based on the state's rich biological resources.
He expressed hope that such innovations would encourage greater scientific exploration of indigenous plant species while contributing to sustainable economic development and environmental conservation in the state.
