ITANAGAR, Jul 4: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Er Yomken Karga, Executive Engineer-cum-Public Information Officer (PIO), PWD Koloriang Division, Kurung Kumey district, for gross violation of the provisions of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
The penalty was imposed through Order No. APIC-789/2025 dated July 1, 2026, under Section 20(1) of the RTI Act, 2005.
The Commission directed the PIO to deposit the penalty amount in favour of the Registrar, APIC, Itanagar, through a Treasury Challan under the Head of Account "0070 – Other Administrative Charge", noting that copies of the Treasury Challan must be submitted to the Commission within two weeks from the date of receipt of the order.
The Commission further warned that failure to comply with the order would result in a recommendation for disciplinary action against the PIO under Section 20(2) of the RTI Act, 2005, to the competent authority.
