TENZINGAON, Jul 6: The 91st birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, was celebrated with spiritual fervour and cultural grandeur at the Tibetan Settlement in Tenzingaon, West Kameng district, on Monday.
The celebration brought together monks, devotees, public representatives, government officials and members of the public, reflecting the deep respect and admiration the Tibetan spiritual leader commands across Arunachal Pradesh.
Attending the programme as the chief guest, Home Minister Mama Natung extended his greetings to His Holiness and highlighted his lifelong commitment to peace, compassion, non-violence and universal human values.
Natung said the Dalai Lama’s teachings continue to inspire humanity and acknowledged his enduring spiritual association with Arunachal Pradesh, which has enriched the state’s Buddhist heritage while strengthening the values of harmony and peaceful coexistence.
Among those present were MLAs Jikke Tako, Tenzin Nyima Glow and Tsetan Chombay Kee, who is also the chief patron of the celebration; North Eastern Council (NEC) member T N Thongdok, State Election Commissioner Rinchin Tashi, West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar and Superintendent of Police DW Thongon, along with senior officials, religious leaders and community members.
The programme featured traditional Buddhist prayers, ceremonial offerings and cultural performances by artists from MIPA, SIMPA as well as artists from Rupa, Kalaktang, Shergaon and Tenzingaon, reaffirming the ideals of compassion, tolerance and universal brotherhood championed by His Holiness.
The celebration concluded with prayers for the Dalai Lama's long life, good health, universal peace and the well-being of all sentient beings.
