ZIRO, Jul 6: The Ziro Tourism Organisation successfully launched the first-ever Tourist Information Centre during the annual Dree Festival, held from July 1 to 5, marking a major step towards promoting community-based tourism in Ziro Valley.
Set up at Hanoko Dree Ground in Hong, the centre was established in collaboration with the District Tourism Office, the District Information and Public Relations Office and the Hapoli Forest Division to provide travel information, hospitality, logistics and safety guidance to domestic and international visitors.
A major highlight of the festival was the release of the Ziro Tourism Digital Directory by Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak during the 37th Hong Dree Festival. Developed by the ZTO, the digital guide provides information on homestays, hotels, guides, transport services and tourist attractions to help visitors plan their trips.
Despite heavy monsoon rains and flash floods disrupting traffic along the Potin-Poosa road, more than 100 individual and group travellers registered at the information centre during the five-day festival.
The ZTO said the initiative aims to promote responsible tourism while ensuring that tourism benefits local communities and preserves the ecological and cultural heritage of Ziro Valley. (DIPRO)
