Itanagar, Jul 7: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Tuesday reviewed the overall education scenario in the state during a meeting with Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona and Education Commissioner Amjad Tak at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar.
The meeting focused on strengthening institutions of higher learning, with particular emphasis on the Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College at Jote.
The Governor stressed the need to address existing academic, administrative and infrastructural challenges to meet the aspirations of students and faculty members. Referring to his recent observations, he called for timely corrective measures and accelerated infrastructure development at the college.
Describing it as the state's only government law college, Parnaik said the institution should evolve into a model centre of legal education capable of producing competent legal professionals who can contribute to the state's judicial system, governance and the rule of law.
The Education Minister assured the Governor that the department was taking corrective measures to address the issues.
The Governor also expressed concern over matters relating to the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli and stressed the need for sustained efforts to strengthen the institution.
He further advised the Education Department to explore the establishment of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) examination centres within Arunachal Pradesh to provide greater convenience and equal opportunities for students.
Appreciating the department's reform initiatives, the Governor commended the Education Minister for implementing the rationalised teacher transfer system through the Teachers' Registry Portal, saying it would enhance transparency, accountability and equitable deployment of teachers, leading to improved learning outcomes across the state.
