MARIYANG, Jul 8: Mariyang Police conducted an awareness programme on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Mariyang, to educate students on child safety and their legal rights.
Officer-in-Charge of Mariyang Police Station, SI Kipa Robin, served as the resource person during the programme held on Tuesday. Students were sensitised about the key provisions of the POCSO Act, the importance of distinguishing between good touch and bad touch, and the legal consequences of sexually coloured remarks and other forms of inappropriate behaviour.
The participants were also informed about Child Helpline 1098 and Emergency Response Support System 112, and encouraged to report incidents of child abuse, harassment or exploitation without fear.
The programme aimed to create awareness on child protection, promote personal safety, and foster a secure and supportive learning environment for students. (DIPRO)
