SSB launches month-long tailoring training programme for women in Vibrant Villages

DIRANG, Jul 8: The 30th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Dirang, on Wednesday inaugurated a 30-day vocational training programme in tailoring and stitching under the Civic Action Programme in the North East Region (CAP-in-NER) 2026–27.

The training programme, which will run from July 8 to August 6, aims to empower 20 women from Vibrant Villages by equipping them with tailoring skills and providing sewing machines to promote self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.

The programme was inaugurated by Commandant of 30 Bn SSB, Sachin Kumar, who encouraged participants to make the most of the opportunity and develop skills that would help them achieve financial independence.

He said such initiatives are intended to enhance livelihood opportunities for women living in border areas and contribute to the socio-economic development of local communities.

The SSB said it remains committed to strengthening border communities through programmes focused on women empowerment, skill development and sustainable economic progress under the CAP.
