The participants unanimously resolved to ban the sale of 500 ml plastic water bottles throughout the sub-division. The administration has directed all shopkeepers and vendors to dispose of their existing stock by July 31, after which the sale of such bottles will not be permitted.
According to the administration, the measure has been introduced to reduce the use of single-use plastics and promote environmentally sustainable practices.
The public, commercial establishments and institutions have been urged to support the initiative by switching to reusable water bottles.
