Khonsa, Jul 14: The New Age Learning Centre (NALC) at the District Library, Khonsa, organised an awareness programme to mark National Reading Month, promoting reading habits and lifelong learning among students and the public.
Students of Government Town Secondary School, library readers and District Library staff participated in the programme.
District Library and Information Officer Chaphun Sumnyan highlighted the contributions of PN Panicker, regarded as the father of the Library Movement in Kerala, and emphasised the importance of reading in enhancing knowledge, critical thinking and creativity.
As part of the celebrations, the library also organised a reading-cum-extempore competition for students. The winners were: Kaipho Pansa (first prize), Kimong Longsey (second prize), and Anon Wangsu (third prize).
All participating students were presented with book sets to encourage reading. (DIPRO)
